Daily-Rituals

Down below is a Daily Rituals Sheet that I have been using for a few months. The idea was influenced by a video I watched on youtube, (My Morning Ritual – How To Be Productive, Happy & Healthy Everyday). As you will see, I use the list in a slightly altered way.

The main purpose of this check list is to build good habits and get the most out of your day. This is a system that is geared to improve the overall quality of your life and not just your craft or profession. If you are a person who doesn’t work well with a structured system or already have one, then the following content may not be the best solution for you. But if you are like me, someone who likes to have a framework, then this could help you out immensely.

Try to keep the items general and not too specific. For more specific tasks, I would advise writing it down somewhere else, like a daily planner. Here you are simply trying to hardwire good habits .

Keep in mind that the daily rituals will vary for each individual. It all depends on what areas you would like to improve on.

Daily Rituals SheetExample

Above I have provided an example of what a filled out sheet could look like. As you can see, in some boxes, instead of putting down a “✓ ” mark for completed, I have included some detail. For example, in the “workout” row, I have written down what type of exercise was done on that day. Or for the “Art” row I have jotted down x amount of hours if the variable was below or above the “minimum 2hrs” for the day. This step is not necessary but I like to keep a record of  what exercises I do and how much time I put into my art.

Also you will see that there are a few “✘”  marks for incomplete tasks. If you miss a few here and there, don’t beat yourself over it! Just remember that it takes several weeks/months to build new habits. So it is completely fine if you have some off days. In the end, what matters the most is how frequently you work towards these daily rituals. What will make the difference is what you do on an  average basis!  So keep developing these habits until it becomes second nature to you!

*For beginners, I recommend minimizing the number of rituals, so it’s easier to make commitment.

*I highly suggest printing out the sheet (or copying it down somewhere)  so you can physically see it in front of you. It can be harder to make commit if you keep everything on the computer because it can easily get lost amongst other documents. I keep my sheet pinned on the wall, right in front of my monitor, thus it is impossible to miss. So place the sheet somewhere that you can’t avoid missing, like in front of your mirror.

Best Wishes!
